PUBLIC OPINION ON EXTENT OF DEMOCRATIZATION OF PAKISTAN AS COMPARED TO OTHER CONTRIES

According to a survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan in September this year 42% of Pakistanis said their country was being ruled by the will of the people, 56% said it was not while 2% did not give a response. Commenting on this analysts at Gallup Pakistan say: This survey was conducted before the elections. It would be interesting to see changes in popular perception after a civilian government assumes power now that the polls have been conducted.

The survey was conducted by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. It was conducted among nearly 1200 men and women spread over all the four provinces of Pakistan. The error margin would be + 5% at 95% confidence level. The text of this Note can also been seen at Gallup’s website. See www.gallup.com.pk
