According to a survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 52% Pakistanis who had heard or read about the recent senate elections agree that claims of horse trading by opposition parties are correct.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces who had heard or read about the recent senate election was asked the following question, “Opposition political parties claimed that horse trading was done in the senate elections whereby political parties bought votes from representatives using large sums of money. To what extent do you think that these claims of horse trading by opposition political parties are correct?”
In response to this question, 31% said that “the claims are absolutely correct”, 21% said that “the claims are correct to a certain extent”, 9% said that “the claims are incorrect to a certain extent”, 11% said that “the claims are absolutely incorrect”, 23% said that they “don’t know” and 6% gave no response.
