According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan 28% attribute non-voting to not being on the electoral rolls, the remaining attribute to quality of candidates (28%) and different types of frustrations and despair about political process (35%).
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked. There is a general perception that youth of Pakistan does not cast their vote. In your opinion, what is the major reason for youth not casting their vote? Responding to this 28% claim that since their name is not present in the voting list so they cannot vote, 17% believe that every candidate is alike and there is no difference among them, 11% claim that youth have no information about the candidates, 12% believe that youth is busy with their own lives and have no time to vote, 11% claim that youth believes their vote will not make any difference, 6% claim that youth have no interest in politics or politicians and do not want to vote to express their rebellion and another 6% believe that allegations of politicians on each other during election campaign demotivates the youth. However 9% did not give a view.
