According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 76% Pakistanis believe
that local bodies’ elections should be held; 23% believe they should not be held.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked,
“Some people think that local bodies’ elections should be held because they are a good step for Pakistan’s
progress, while others think that these elections are just a waste of resources and funds. Do you think local
bodies’ elections should be held?” In response to this question, 76% respondents said that local bodies’
elections should be held, while 23% respondents said that they should not be held and 1% did not respond.
