According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (56%) believe that women contesting elections should be applauded and encouraged.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked. What do you think should be the government’s policy regarding women contesting elections? Responding to this, 26% said female contestants should be banned whereas 56% said they should be encouraged. However, 18% said the government should remain neutral.
