According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 36% Pakistanis believe that the provincial government is responsible for mismanagement during local bodies’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; 20% believe that the Election Commission is responsible.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “In the recently held local bodies’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there were instances of violence, mismanagement, and firing. Some people say that the provincial government is responsible for all these incidents, while the provincial government holds the Election Commission responsible for mismanagement. Who do you think is responsible?” In response to this question, 36% respondents said that the provincial government was responsible for the instances of mismanagement and violence during the local elections, 20% respondents said that the Election Commission was responsible, 16% respondents said that the federal government was responsible, while 26% respondents held all three as equally responsible for the mismanagement during the local elections, and 2% did not respond.
