26% opposed disqualification of Waheeda Shah for slapping Election Commission staff; however 66% supported the decision.GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 26% opposed disqualification of Waheeda Shah for slapping Election Commission staff; however 66% supported the decision. Majority of PPP voters also favored disqualification.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked. Different people have different opinion about People’s Party candidate Waheeda Shah slapping election commission member. Some people think that court’s decision to disqualify her is the right action. Some people think that she should have been scolded and given a mild punishment whereas some people think that she should have been forgiven. What is your opinion? Responding to this 66% believe that rendering Waheeda Shah ineligible for election is the right action, 18% believe that scolding and a mild punishment would have been better instead of disqualification whereas 8% believe she should have been forgiven. However 8% did not give a view.
